Our rooms are designed according to a strict concept – yet every room features appealing details and has its own character. Much like the architecture of the building itself, which features a unique design by the architects Herzog & de Meuron.

Our hospitality is relaxed and authentic, and will make you feel like you’re among family. After all, your host Lisa Rümmele also lives here with her family – under the curved roof of the hotel that arches over everything.

The salon provides a view of the green gardens at the back and the lovely square at the front. Between the two, lies the breakfast bar. The garden room is always reserved for our hotel guests in the mornings for breakfasts in peace and quiet.

The front of the lounge is open to visitors to the town, whom we gladly serve snacks and drinks from a small menu. Our lounge is a room for encounters and communication, and – from time to time – it also serves as a venue for small events.

A good day at Stadthotel kleiner Löwe starts with the three classic hot beverages that have always been part of a good breakfast: tea, hot chocolate, and coffee from Trevo roastery in Bregenzerwald. Also always on the table: home-made sourdough bread from Milena and Erik at Restaurant Weiss.

There are also croissants, butter, cheese, and home-made jam. Further ingredients are included in our little breakfast depending on the season. Except on Sundays, when our breakfast bar remains closed. However, we invite you to have breakfast at our neighbours Restaurant Weiss.

The question as to whether the facade was already light blue 200 years ago remains unanswered. One thing is for certain: that the building was erected as a brewery around 1820, and that it formed part of the guesthouse “Zum Goldenen Löwen”. The latter was finally demolished in the early 1970s, but the brewery building remained intact. In fact, beer brewing only took place here until the early 20th century as the building was then converted into the first cinema of the town of Bregenz – the “Löwen Kinematograf”.

The building at Kornmarktplatz number 5 has since gone through various transformations: from a bank to a furniture store to a delicatessen shop – and more recently, a bar and nightclub. The facade of the building was adapted to match its use in each case and therefore changed constantly.
